In old days, women of high birth sent out knights on a task with which they could prove their love to her. However, the times have changed, and there are no dragons anymore, no places to be discovered. Thus, there are no daring tasks left anymore. After all, Shutting up your younger brothers is a very complicated task too, but one little courage is needed for. One does not seriously prove his love by doing so but merely removes a factor of annoyance.
But do we need to set a daring taks? Is it not enough if men show their love for us in daily life?
I would like to believe this, but for many girls around me - I notice - it is not enough. They desire proof of love. Not by deeds, but rather by gifts. However, I do not understand this need for gifts. After all, it is like being bought. With ifts, it is as if one is paid for loving, which could also be called 'prostitutes', in other words. I do not say that gifts cannot be nice, but to show your love for someone in such a way means that love alone is not enough. It almost indicates that the gifts are more important than the actually feelings attached to it.
The ancient ways were much more romantic, and even though time has gone on, this does not mean we can't always strive to return some of the ancient flair and chivalery to our modern-day lives.
That times are gone does not mean that the ideals have vanished too...
