A little story about cats

Posted at 12:09 PM on March 03, 2008
Cats have always intrigued me. The way they went around. How they could stare at something for hours without blinking even once. My favourite Egyptian goddess was bast, the divine personification of cats.

As a child, I read all sorts of magazines, something I still do (but then again, I am still a child ^_^), and often a quiz such as 'what sort of animal are you' was featured it in. I always turned out to be a cat (provided that this animal was one of the possible outcomes).
Now, you may disagree, but I believe that I am quite a bit like one, too. Of course, the name of my little brother is also the name of a very famous animated cat, and thus one of my nicknames for him is 'Meowf" - like the Pokémon, yes - but this is jst silly. A name does not mean a thing. Once again, I will quote Shakespeare: "What is in a name?"

Cats are selfminded, solitary animals. Although they do not mind the slgihtests when they are being caressed, they do not need the attention. They are not like dogs; they do not need attention from every living being which passes by. In a way, dogs are the people whom love the spotlight, whom can not do without attention. Cats are the ones whom do not need, whom realize that they can do just as well without it.
A cat uses it's claws to show their dislike, to protect themselves from harm; I use my words for this.

You may disagree with me, but I think that cats are amazing animals. They know whom they like, and whom not. They do not wish to be everyone's friend, but rather chose few beings they like.
They have their own teritory, whcih is theirs and not to be invaded by others. A teritory which they will defend at any cost; a teritory which is their kingdom, where only they will rule. And no one owns them. They have people whom provide them a home, but a cat is no one's property.
Maybe that is why I like cats so much. A cat always lands on his paws. There is a sense of superiority about them. They seem certain of what they do, have no consciousness and do not regret. We might as well be jealous of them.

No matter what we think of cats, we can not deny that cats can learn us a lot about how to deal with people. All we need to do is observe...

The best quote which I ever heard about cats is by a certain Alan Holbrook:
Women and cats do as they damned well please, and men and dogs had best learn to live with it.

What fits seamless to this is the following Hungarian legend. According to this legend, God was interrupted by a hungry cat when he was shaping Eve from Adam's rib. The cat grabbed the rib and ran off. God could only get hold of the cat's tail and shaped Eve out of it for lack of better.
This story is only one of the many examples from literature in which cats' habits are often compared to everything feminine.

I suddenly realize that I have not yet explained what the simularities between me and cats are, but I think that some people will be able to figure this out anyway, even without an explanation from my side. And otherwise, well, you could just think of the Hungarian legend which is described above ^_^.
